INSPIRATION FOR THE DAY : HIDDEN THINGS

HIDDEN THINGS
'Lord, by this time he stinketh' John 11:39
What do you keep in the dark? It's human nature to keep some things in our lives hidden, worrying that if we let them out in the open and into the light, they would let off a right old stink and pollute the fragranced atmosphere. Pride stands in the way because we fear people will look at us in a different way. So we stay in the stink. Mary and Martha wanted to leave the stink of their dead brother in the tomb. They wanted to avoid the discomfort of their dead brother's unpleasant body smell filling people's nostrils.

So when Jesus told them to have the stone rolled away, it's quite understandable that they didn't see the point. What was Jesus up to? But Jesus was right when He said, 'If you [will] believe you [will] see the glory of God' (John 11:40 NKJ): He went on to bring Lazarus out of the tomb. He brought him back to life! Sometimes in life there are things that just stink and we'd rather keep them to ourselves. We don't want to share our mess with other people or work through it with God. We'd rather keep it buried instead. But Jesus loves every part of us - our whole beings, not just the parts we think He'll like. He wants to bring every bit of our lives into healing and freedom. Jesus can turn around any stinker of a situation.

What now?  Ask for, then believe in the glory of God in your life. Read and spend time mulling over the powerful truths about who you are in Romans 8:12-17.
